Epic Games’ Director of Publishing Sergiy Galyonkin has announced his departure from the company after working there for the past 8 years.

During his time at Epic Games, he helped build what is known as Epic 4.0. According to his Twitter/X post, Galyonkin’s reason for leaving was that he was “not a good fit” for the new version coming up known as Epic 5.0.

The new version is aimed at transforming the company from a game developer, engine creator, and publisher into more of a “platform”.

While he may no longer fit with Epic Games’ plans on their future, Galyonkin does have positive feelings towards the company. He noted being thankful for having worked there and appreciated some of the things they did, such as sending financial aid to Ukraine after the invasion by Russia back in 2022.

He plans on continuing to stay in the gaming industry, however he has yet to announce where he may be heading to in the future.

Galyonkin is another key member leaving Epic Games within the past month. Their chief creative officer left just last month and they’ve also experienced layoffs for Fall Guys developer Mediatonic.
