Epic Games have announced a new Unreal Tournament game that is being co-developed with users from the Unreal Engine 4 community. The free to play title is heading to PC, Mac, and Linux. Mark Rein, the Vice President of Epic Games, said that the game is simply a free game, “not free to play, just free.”
If you’re a subscriber of the Unreal 4 Engine, you can actually chip in with the crowdsourced development for the next game. Fan created mods are going to be a huge part of the game after its official launch. Epic are aiming to set up a marketplace that features creators selling their own content, and Epic will get a cut of that.
The new game is being developed by a “small team of Unreal Tournament veterans,” and Epic Games are working closely with the fans within the community to make the decisions on what will be coming with the core game. The game is still in the early stages of development, but as soon as there’s a playable alpha, Epic is going to launch it for everyone to play.
