English Version of Ys Origin Sells Over 200K on Steam, Japanese Release Not Happening

This is good news for JRPG fans that are hoping for more worthwhile releases on PC, via Steam.

Nihon Falcom has confirmed that Ys Origin has sold over 200,000 units on the English side of Steam (thanks for the tip, J.George!). It’s worth mentioning the Japanese Steam version of Ys Origin hasn’t come, and the reasoning behind this is Falcom’s outlook on the Japanese PC/Steam market:

“Unfortunately, it just wouldn’t have sold that well. It might not even sell a hundredth of that, or roughly 2K copies.”

XSEED Games put Ys Origin onto Steam back on May 31st, of 2012. You can find Ys Origin on Steam here, for $19.99.

Could we be seeing even more Ys games on Steam? XSEED did tease a new release for Ys: The Ark of Napishtim, so perhaps we’ll be seeing that soon.
