Emilia, Rem, Megumin, and More Join Gatebox Virtual Assistant via HoloModels

Gatebox have confirmed they will be collaborating with HoloModels to create more virtual assistance.

For those unfamiliar, Gatebox creates a “holographic” virtual home assistant akin to Alexa, interacting with lights, TV, Roombas and more all by voice command and even texts. It usually projects the image of a female anime character, complete with voice acting (1, 2, 3, 4). It will even recognize their user’s face.

HoloModels meanwhile is an app by Gugenka that let users bring anime characters into the real world via AR technology and “digital anime figures. Gugenka creates a variety of models to be used in their app and virtual reality games, based on popular anime characters.

Now both groups are working in collaboration, formed when Guenka participated in the “Gatebox Business Partner Program.”

Characters confirmed so far include Emilia, Rem (both from RE:Zero), Megumin (KonoSuba), Senko (Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san), Izumi Sagiri and Yamada Elf (both from Ero-Manga Sensei). They will be exhibited at the upcoming Gatebox Taiken Kai event on October 12th and 13th.

You can view both the announcement videos and discussion of the future of the technology between Gatebox and HoloModel representatives above and below. Both videos have English subtitles.
