Elysian Shadows Prepares for Kickstarter With Massive Development Update

Full Disclosure: I am friends with game director Falco Girgis and a few other staff members working on Elysian Shadows.

The indie team that is working on Elysian Shadows, an excellent looking “next generation 2D RPG,” is moving into heavy development to prepare the game for their upcoming Kickstarter campaign.

The title is currently on track for a release on Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS, Ouya and even the Sega Dreamcast. Featured above, you can get an inside look at their internal development for the game, with all the trials and tribulations that you can expect with an ambitious title such as this.

The team working on Elysian Shadows has been working many sleepless nights putting out lots of music, code, art assets, and of course loads of caffeine abuse. This episode of Adventures in Game Development is all about the platforming mechanics, the dynamic lighting, the NPC scripting, the combat system, and so on.

For those who haven’t heard of the game, Elysian Shadows is a fresh take on the elements that made so many classics such as Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy so great and addicting. Their Kickstarter campaign is set to launch sometime at the tail end of this summer.

If you missed our original preview for Elysian Shadows, you can read that here. In the meantime, you can check out the game’s official website here.
