American film producer Eleven Arts has acquired the North American distribution rights for the anime film Poupelle of Chimney Town.
Elven Arts has released animated films in the past in North America, such as Colorodio’s Penguin Highway and Kyoto Animation’s A Silent Voice.
Poupelle of Chimney Town follows a small boy named Lubicchi who lives in a town covered in thick smog. Despite the smoke covering the sky he wants to see the stars, even though most of the adults around him think stars aren’t real and it’s a fool’s errand.
With a strange robot companion, Lubicchi sets off on an adventure to discover the truth about stars, and in turn his smog-covered town.
Eleven Arts is proud to announce the North America acquisition of Poupelle of Chimney Town, the feature film adaptation of the bestselling book by Akihiro Nishino and directorial debut of Yusuke Hirota.
