Publisher 505 Games and developer Rabbit & Bear Studios shared a pre-launch trailer for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes showing off some characters not shown until now.
The new trailer gives us a look at new characters like B’baba (voiced by Helen Keeley), a mysterious woman that narrates the video, Yuthus (voiced by James Alexander), Kogen (voiced by Michael Schwalbe), and many others.
As its name implies, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will let players recruit a hundred main characters to join their army alongside the three main characters Nowa, Seign, and Marisa.
Originally funded on Kickstarter, the new Japanese RPG became the highest-funded game on the platform for all of 2020, and was fully funded in under two hours – a testament to how beloved the Suikoden series remains with fans.
Its team, Rabbit & Bear Studios, was led by Suikoden creator Yoshitaka Murayama, prior to his tragic death last month. We were fortunate enough to interview him during the development of Eiyuden Chronicle.
The new trailer reveals a lot of similarities with the game and its forebears, the Suikoden series, more specifically Suikoden II and its dual protagonists. Between its art style, character designs, and writing, it’s certainly looking to be a true successor to the beloved RPG.
Originally announced back in the summer of 2020, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes had a very successful run on Kickstarter as mentioned and then got picked up by publisher 505 Games. It got delayed alongside a prequel game, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, getting announced.
Murayama-san’s classic Suikoden games are being remastered as Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars, and are in development for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
Here’s a look at the game’s new pre-launch trailer, as we’re just over a month from its big worldwide release on PC and consoles:
