    D3 Publisher and developer Sandlot have announced they’ve dropped the Epic Games requirement for online play in Earth Defense Force 6.

    When Earth Defense Force 6 originally launched it didn’t list the Epic Games requirement to play online – spurring lots of negative reactions from fans. The team promptly responded and said they’d make changes, only to now confirm they’ve removed the requirement entirely.

    “This application has been modified so that you can play online missions without signing in to your Epic Games account,” the companies said in a statement. “Signing in to your Epic Games account is no longer required.”

    Furthermore, players of the game that already linked their Steam account to their Epic Games account to play EDF 6 online can now unlink them via these steps.

    Earth Defense Force 6 was released in July 2024 for Windows PC (via Steam), and both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
