Publisher Limited Run Games has announced a western release for Earnest Evans Collection, the classic Wolf Team games from the 90s.
Earnest Evans Collection is coming west this week, on January 16th for PC (via Steam), Switch, PS4, and PS5 on their digital storefronts. A physical release will be available via the Limited Run Games store with preorders launching January 23rd.
The classic game collection was released in Japan back on December 25th for Switch – the PlayStation versions had to be delayed over “urgent revisions.”
As covered in our previous reporting, the new Earnest Evans Collection will include three Wolf Team classics: El Viento (1991), Earnest Evans (1991), and Anett Futatabi (1993). While the former two games were released in the west, the third was never released outside of Japan.
Here’s a rundown on the collection:
Three classic action games return in the Earnest Evans Collection!
The Earnest Evans Collection is a collection of three classic games from the famed developers at Wolf Team (who would go on to create the famed Tales of RPG series): Earnest Evans, El Viento, and Annet Returns.
- Earnest Evans: President Calvin Coolidge has hired famed adventurer Earnest Evans to find and locate an ancient grimoire – The Necronomicon. Unbeknownst to Earnest Evans, someone else has their eyes on it: Al Capone! Al Capone hopes to use the book to resurrect the Dark Lord Hastur and control Europe unless Earnest and a young priestess named Annet can stop him!
- El Viento: Several years after the events of Earnest Evans, Al Capone and a sorceress named Restiana are continuing a plot to revive the Dark Lord Hastur. It has been learned that Annet descended from Hastur’s bloodline, and her blood alone can resurrect him. With assistance from Earnest Evans, Annet embarks on a journey to stop Al Capone’s plans.
- Annet Returns: The exciting conclusion to this trilogy of games. Annet travels across Europe on a quest to protect the world from certain destruction at the hands of Siegfried Munchausen and the evil NeXesis Party.
Features:
- Incredible animated cutscenes in Earnest Evans and Annet Returns from the masterminds at MADHOUSE (Trigun, Cardcaptor Sakura, and more).
- Masterful soundtrack from acclaimed video game composer Motoi Sakuraba (Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia, Mario Golf, Valkyrie Profile, and more).
