EA Shuts Down Mythic Entertainment, Shifts Focus to Mobile Games

EA has confirmed that Mythic Entertainment, the studio behind games like Warhammer Online and Dark Age of Camelot, has been shut down.

The news was first confirmed via Kotaku, but we heard of a follow up with Polygon that clarified the situation a bit more:

“We are closing the EA Mythic location in Fairfax, Virginia, as we concentrate mobile development in our other studio locations. We are working with all impacted employees to provide assistance in finding new opportunities, either within EA or with other companies via an upcoming job fair.”

Mythic Entertainment first opened their doors in 1995, and they were later purchased by EA in 2006. They were mostly known for the aforementioned Warhammer Online and Dark Age of Camelot series, and their last shipped game was Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar, which released in 2013.
