EA Play on Xbox Game Pass for PC and Ultimate Delayed to 2021

Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft have announced that EA Play being part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC has been delayed to 2021.

While originally slated to launch this month, the Xbox Wire blog post states that EA Play will not be coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox Game Pass for PC until 2021. The phrasing of the post and the timing almost makes it sound like this was a last minute decision.

“When we originally set out to write this blog post, which would announce the availability of EA Play on PC with Xbox Game Pass, it looked a little bit different. Unfortunately, what had been a celebratory post is now one asking for a little more patience: We made the decision to delay until 2021 the release of EA Play on PC as part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC and Ultimate memberships.”

The service was set to be a free addition to the existing Xbox Game Passes. Microsoft explain they will have more to share in early 2021.

EA Play is the result of the merging of EA Access and Origin Access into one subscription service. Subscribers will have unlimited access to a library of EA Games, pre-release trials of newly released games, and will get 10% off any purchases made.

EA Play Pro boasts a larger library of even more EA games, early access to “deluxe versions” of newly released games, and “pro-level rewards and content.”

EA Play is currently available on Origin, Steam, PlayStation 4.
