EA Origin is dead, now replaced by the EA App

EA App

Electronic Arts’ long-running Origin app and service has officially been replaced by their new EA App, effectively ending the decade old Steam-competitor.

The new EA App has officially left open beta, and will “soon replace” the Origin app as their primary PC platform.

Electronic Arts describe the new app as their “fastest and lightest PC client to date,” with a “new streamlined design” where you can quickly find games and content you like.

Alongside the typical launcher features, the EA App will also let users connect to other platforms like Xbox, PlayStation, and even their main competitor: Steam.

The process for upgrading to the EA App is simple: grab the installer from EA, run it, make a cup of coffee, and you’re done! The installer actually rips out the old Origin installer and its files, so there’s no cleanup required.
