EA Hikes Prices of Nearly 30 Games on Steam

Gamers have discovered that Electronic Arts (EA) may have increased the prices on many of their games on Steam.

A user on r/PCGaming noticed that “almost, if not every EA game currently on Steam” had increased in their base price for Brazil, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, and Russia.

Using the three games the Reddit user gave as an example, along with our own research, we found the following:

SimCity 4: Deluxe Edition

We also noticed the price increases with Dead Space 2, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, DeathSpank, Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Command and Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath, Dragon Age: Origins, Need for Speed: SHIFT, Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 – Uprising, Spore: Galactic Adventures, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Mirror’s Edge, Dead Space, Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, Spore: Creepy & Cute Parts PackSpore, Crysis WarheadCrysis, Jade Empire: Special Edition, and many pieces of The Sims 3 DLC.

Out of EA’s Steam catalog of 38 games, and 22 pieces of DLC- less than 10 titles had no price increase. All of these price raises seem to occur from February 5th to 7th.

PC Gamer reports that “in some cases, the prices are now double what they are on Origin.” Our own research indicates that most titles are now more expensive on Steam, aside from some titles which are “included” as part of Origin and Origin Premium client.
