Following their earlier promise to return next year, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced E3 2023 is returning with new partner ReedPop organizing the event.
Both the ESA and ReedPop confirmed E3 2023 will return in the second week of June 2023 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Event planners teased “titanic AAA reveals, earth-shaking world premieres, and exclusive access to the future of video games.”
ReedPop is mostly known for managing the Penny Arcade (PAX) conventions, but they also own a number of competitor sites and media companies like Gamesindustry.biz, Eurogamer, and others – via their multi-national media corp parent company RELX.
E3 2023 will be open to publishers, developers, journalists, content creators, manufacturers, buyers, and licensors, but notes the event will have “digital showcases” and “in-person consumer components.”
The last bit will be interesting to see as most folks in the industry have been unhappy with how E3 has handled being open to the public – which they’ve done since 2017. Prior to offering public passes, the event was a private industry-only trade show.
