Over 15 million players downloaded Dying Light during Epic Games Store giveaway

Dying Light was given away for free through the Epic Games Store earlier this month and boy did a lot of players take up the offer.

During the week of April 6th through the 13th developer Techland have announced that over 15 million players took advantage of the deal to nab their parkour based zombie game.

They’ve already seen major sales for their title with over 20 million previously reported. While not necessarily every single download was a new owner (nothing stops current owners on other platforms from redeeming the free download), they did see a new resurgence as a result of this free week.

Techland reported seeing a new peak player count record, with over 760K+ concurrent players during that week. While they obviously didn’t make direct sales with this giveaway, they likely will enjoy seeing increased sales for their sequel for those who greatly enjoyed the game.

Speaking of the game’s sequel, Dying Light 2: Stay Human, is also available now for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch via Cloud. In case you missed it, you can find our thorough review for the game here. The original Dying Light has been available for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
