Dying Light 2 got new game plus via new update

Dying Light 2

The awaited update for Dying Light 2: Stay Human adds in the promised new game plus as well as multiple fixes to co-op play.

The latest update for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, called version 1.3.0, has been released. With it comes a plethora of changes, bug fixes, and most of all new game plus as promised earlier for those that have already completed the campaign.

The patch notes describing this new mode are shown below:

New Game+

After finishing it once, the game can be replayed again, only this time with modified game parameters in place to encourage a second playthrough by the implementation of a unique system and experience. The player can now go through the story with revitalized mechanisms. These include new enemy behaviors, more difficult encounters, new objects within the world, namely the newly added inhibitors, and many more changes that will significantly alter the gameplay style and allow the player to develop their character further. All of this is only available in New Game+!

  • 30 new inhibitors
  • New platinum objectives for parkour challenges
  • Updated distribution of the enemies (f.e. Volatiles and Banshee spawn during the night, a wider variety of enemy pools in encounters)
  • A new legendary weapon tier added
  • Gold encounters added
  • Enemy difficulty scales with the player level

As you can see from the above, the developers at Techland have put in multiple features to add new challenges and difficulties for players who have likely already explored the world of Dying Light 2 during their initial playthrough.

The hope is that things will remain fresh even on a second playthrough with a larger variety of enemies to face off that are also tougher as well. For players, they can also continue to beef up their character with the addition of inhibitors and the new tier in weapons.

This is welcome news for the fanbase of the Dying Light 2. Of which there are many according to sales figures revealing that over 5 million copies of the game have been sold in the first month. So a lot of gamers are going to be given a good reason to return to the game, which is a fun title as we’ve discussed in our review.

The patch also comes along with numerous bug fixes to the co-op and general gameplay. A FOV slider has even been added to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game. The patch notes can be read on their official website here.

What do you think of this update? Were you a fan playing through the first time and are looking for another reason to hop back into the world of Dying Light 2: Stay Human?
