No, you read the headline right. We’ve learned (via Deadline) that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is starring in a live-action film adaptation of the classic monster beat’em up, Rampage.
The movie will be directed by Beau Flynn, backed by New Line, with a production set to kick off next summer. The plot is based off the 1980’s original Rampage game, by Midway. While details for the actual plot are scant, we can’t imagine it’ll be much further than the original games, which saw a monstrous gorilla, lizard, and wolf destroy various cities.
While Johnson and Flynn worked together under New Line for the apocalyptic movie San Andreas, the plan is to have Johnson film Fast & Furious 8 and then go to work on Rampage.
We’ll keep you guys posted.
