Indie developer Thomas K Young has announced Dunkadillo, a colorful and chaotic animal physics platformer.
Dunkadillo is in development for Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, and both iOS and Android with a release set for September 9th. While the PC and Switch versions are $9.99, the mobile release is free with ads.
“I had a heap of fun making this game,” says Thomas, “especially coming up with bad guy ideas with my four-year-old son, Roddy. Putting Dill the Dunkadillo through a hoop feels super satisfying and also cool. But please, don’t dunk actual armadillos in real life – they won’t like it.”
Here’s a rundown on the game, plus its reveal trailer:
Dunkadillo tells the story of Dill, an armadillo whose best friend Pickle has been kidnapped by a mysterious tentacle. Dill’s unique gift? He can curl into a perfect sphere and bounce through perilous platforming stages – and yes, slam himself through basketball hoops – in the name of friendship.
Players will traverse 50 vibrant stages, double-jumping over exploding bees, dodging oblivious porcupines, and outsmarting over-friendly frogs. Along the way, they can collect hidden trading cards featuring characters from Dadish, Super Fowlst, Be Brave, Barb, and more.
