Today, a new version (0.18) of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup got released. It introduces several big changes to the famous roguelike, most notably adding a new god: Pakellas the Inventive. Players who choose to worship Pakellas will get bonuses related to evocations: casting spells by using magical items like wands.
Some of the other gods have been reworked slightly – Beogh, the orc god, now doesn’t accept corpse sacrifices but allows you to resurrect your fallen followers. Bigger changes have been applied to items, with multiple amulets, weapons and ‘unrandarts’ (non-random artifacts – named unique items handcrafted by the developers) added, redesigned or removed. Similar changes have been made to the game’s enemies.
Because of the nature of the game’s development and updates, many of those features have been available to those who didn’t wait for the official release and downloaded and compiled source code from Github.
Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup 0.18 can be downloaded from the official website. Full changelog is available at Github.
