Duelyst is a new squad-based tactical combat game that has just finished a successful kickstarter campaign.  The game will be turn-based with ranked competitive play, and it’s heading to Mac, PC, and on the web.

Duelyst will play like a normal turn-based game except you will not have to face random encounters.  The game’s main goal will be to focus on the squad-based combat instead of spending hours on resource management.  Duelyst had started out as a table-top game and now it is being translated onto different platforms.

The average length of a battle will only be about 30 minutes, so now you can play a competitive skill-based game without investing hours into it.  In Dueylst, there will be 6 factions you can start as.  The game will have over 100 faction-specific characters, so you can play for days on end without getting bored.

Also, there will be 4 different game modes to choose from.  If you are a rookie than you can use practice casual to hone in on your skills.  There will also be a ranked draft and a ranked normal mode to compete with other players.  Of course there will also be single player, where you can gain troops to help on your journey.

Even though I am not the biggest fan of squad-based tactical combats, this game appeals to me.  The fact that I have a squad that I can custom make and just jump into battle will keep the action alive and allow me to focus on the task at hand, which is to kill the commander.

Duelyst has beautiful artwork, is fast paced, and is being developed by a team of veteran game developers.  If you are in the market to try out a new game, tan you should check out Duelyst.
