DrinkBox Studios, the guys who created instant classics such as Tales from Space and Guacamelee, are working on a new game for mobile devices. Titled ‘Severed,’ the dungeon crawler is played from a first person perspective, and lets you target specific parts of your enemies’ bodies, cutting off specific body parts, which you can use later as equipment.
The game follows the tale of a misguided warrior who is trying to solve a mystery, mostly because she wakes up in a foreign place missing a piece of her arm. The world within Severed is non-linear, and you’ll be able to duke it out with your enemies through gesture (touch) based controls through a first person perspective.
Severed is likened to the gameplay of Epic Games’ Infinity Blade series, only you’ll also be able to evolve and progress as you reuse the decapitated limbs from your defeated enemies. While the game is currently set for mobile devices, DrinkBox are looking at bringing the game to Playstation Vita, 3DS, and Wii U. They’re also looking into stuff like Playstation Move, Kinect, and even Project Morpheus.
Severed is set for a release sometime next year.
