Japanese company Drecom has announced (via Games Jouhou) they’ve acquired the copyrights and trademarks for the classic Wizardry series.

The company now owns the copyrights and both the foreign and domestic trademarks for the series, and will develop a new game in the franchise. Drecom noted they’re committed to acquiring more popular intellectual properties, and will continue to make their own original titles.

It’s worth noting the new acquisition includes the rights to Wizardry 6, Wizardry 7, Wizardry 8, and Wizardry Gold, as well as the foreign and domestic trademarks for the name Wizardry.

Tokyo-based Drecom has primarily been a mobile game developer, working on various mobile spinoffs or adaptations of popular franchises like Everybody’s Golf, Disgaea, Digimon, and more.
