This one seemingly came out of nowhere. Earlier this year, Square Enix announced their desire to have all the Dragon Quest games released on mobile platforms. The thing however, was that they didn’t give a definite timeline for this.
Well, without any advertising, or even clues that they were going to do it, Dragon Quest VIII was released on iOS today for $19.99. The technical requirements for the game are quite strict, as it won’t work on anything older than an iPhone 5 or an iPad 3 on the tablet end.
It’s always interesting to see mobile games with higher price points getting released. Sometimes it seems like they are doomed to fail since the market is dominated by free games.
There’s no word yet on an Android release.
