The latest issue of Jump magazine (via @kazu4281) has confirmed a big change in the Nintendo 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King.

The new handheld version is coming with a new ending, although the manner in which this ending comes about is currently unknown. There are hints like “a sad protagonist,” or “angry King Clavius,” among others, but that’s all we have for now.

Lastly, there’s a new dungeon that is waiting after you clear the game. The new dungeon is known as the “Ultimate Trial,” and will come with curious new purple treasure chests.
