Independent developer Grimm Bros. has announced a new version for their debut RPG, Dragon Fin Soup.
The new version is dubbed appropriately Dragon Fin Soup: Extra Chunky Edition, and its hitting practically every platform on the market: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and even FireTV. The late 2016 release is seemingly across the board, however the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita releases are probably coming first.
The new edition includes the content from the latest 1.07 “Community ChowDown!” update from the PC version of the game, which adds lots of new features, bugfixes, and enhancements. Chief among the updates are:
- Ability to feed pets to level them up
- Toggle button for the grid view
- New “Black Knight” pet inspired by Monty Python and the Holy Grail
- New dungeons
- New “Trash Talk” system
- New items, recipes, weapons
This new version is being made possible by a new partnership with Twitchy Thumbs Entertainment, who are aiding in the development and porting to all the platforms the game will be releasing on.
Fans who picked the Kickstarter-funded game up on a PlayStation device have sort of been left in the dust, as the PC version has gotten quite a few updates since launch (while the PlayStation version hasn’t). To remedy this, Grimm Bros. are giving a free Steam or DRM key to hold those fans over.
Grimm Bros. will be showing off Dragon Fin Soup: Extra Chunky Edition at this year’s PAX East, where they’ll also be confirming how PlayStation fans can redeem their free Steam or DRM key.
