Dono’s Tale gets playable demo

Dono's Tale

A playable demo has been released for the upcoming game Dono’s Tale.

Dono’s Tale is a 2D platformer drawing inspiration from classic SNES-era titles like Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island and Donkey Kong Country. The game has a cartoony aesthetic and colorful artwork that brings you back to the platformers of the 90s.

The game will also feature music from guest composer Soyo Oka who previously composed music for Super Mario KartWario’s Woods, and more.

Here’s a quick rundown on the game.

Story

It’s a stormy night in Fruit Forest.. and this is bad news for Dono and his emergency reserve of delicious Fruit! As Dono struggles to keep his home from collapsing during the storm, Dono’s Fruit would get swept up and scattered across the land!

After the storm subsides, Dono and his friends team up and embark on an adventure to recover the lost Fruit, finding themselves in many fun and strange scenarios along the way!

Dono’s Tale is a traditional “reach the goal” Action Platformer. Dono will have to platform his way through obstacles and enemies in order to make it to the goal!

Dono can jump, dodge and shoot fireballs in order to make his path through the many obstacles he will encounter!

But that’s not all! Along his journey, Dono will learn new abilities that will allow him to dash lightning-fast, jump leaps higher, dig through terrain, scale walls, and much more in order to collect all the Fruit scattered around the levels.

Dono’s Tale is expected to launch on Windows PC (via Steam, GOG, and Itch.io) and Nintendo Switch. A release for Xbox and PlayStation is expected to follow.

A release date hasn’t been announced, but feel free to check out the demo!
