[UPDATE: Square Enix have released a teaser trailer for Dissidia Final Fantasy, which you can watch above. The arcade will be a 3 vs. 3 battle game with “overwhelmingly advanced graphics”.

Characters so far confirmed to be playable include the Onion Knight (from Final Fantasy III), Terra Branford (Final Fantasy VI), Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII), Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII), and Y’Shtola (Final Fantasy XIV). Thanks, Games Talk.]

Remember that strange new arcade game that Square Enix teased last month? We now know what the game is, and it turns out to be a new Dissidia game.

While details are scant, we know that it’s coming to Japanese arcades, and it’s dubbed simply Dissidia Final Fantasy. The news comes via their booth at the Japan Amusement Expo in Chiba. It’s worth mentioning that Takahiro Sakurai, Final Fantasy VII‘s Japanese voice actor for Cloud Strife, was on stage for the reveal.
