Disney and Lenovo have announced a new augmented reality headset, alongside a new game to accompany it – Star Wars: Jedi Challenges.
The new augmented reality headset will be coming soon to mobile platforms – a demo was shown at this year’s D23 Expo where you could play the iconic Holo-chess game from the original Star Wars trilogy.
Disney Vice President of Advanced Development Mike Goslin noted they wanted to make the Holo-chess game real, however the technology hasn’t existed until now.
The headset is being made via the new partnership between Disney and Lenovo, and it sounds like the device will mostly do Star Wars related stuff. The headset is used with your smartphone, so we’re assuming here the new games will be exclusive to mobile platforms and the device.
Finally, the new game Star Wars: Jedi Challenges was revealed, which you’ll be playing with the headset as well. The above trailer shows an AR peripheral light-saber that you can use while playing the new AR game.
