Disintegration Developer and Halo Co-Creator Founded V1 Interactive Shutting Down

V1 Interactive

V1 Interactive have announced they are shutting down, almost nine months after the launch of their first title.

“We are sad to inform you that V1 Interactive is officially closing,” the developer announced on Twitter. “We want to thank all the talented people at V1, both past and present, who helped make the last 5 years wonderful. And a heartfelt thanks to the amazing community that supported us.”

Their first and only title, Disintegration, is a first-person shooter in a world where mankind is on the brink of extinction. Through “Integration,” human brains are placed into robotic suits to survive. Now the Rayonne have arisen, driven mad by the process and forcing Integration on humans to be superior.

The game received a middling reception from critics and players alike when it launched in June 2020 [1, 2, 3], and the game’s multiplayer severs were shut down in November 2020. SteamCharts notes the game’s all time peak on Steam was less than 600 players, and fell to single digits by the end of August 2020.

V1 Interactive were founded by Marcus Lehto, the co-creator of the original Halo. Speaking on Twitter, Lehto explained “At V1, our priority has been to the wellbeing of our employees. We’ve been transparent with them about the state of things for months and are making this decision now so they still have ample time to search for new jobs while being supported by our studio.”

Disintegration is available on Windows PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
