ForwardWorks have announced mobile game Disgaea RPG will be heading to the west, along with a release date and closed beta in some regions.
As previously reported, the game launched in March 2019 in Japan, but numerous bugs and server issues saw the game being taken down and later re-launched in late November.
Now, developer ForwardWorks have announced in a blog post [translation: DeepL] that the game will be coming to the west. The free-to-play game launches Spring 2021 for Android and iOS almost globally (except China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea).
The game will also have English CBT (Closed Beta Testing) taking place in January 2021. However, these are only for players in Canada, Brazil, Australia, and the Philippines. Boltrend Games were also announced to be in charge of development and management of the game’s English version.
Disgaea RPG sees main characters, job classes, and monsters from across the JRPG series being recruited and put into a team to fight increasingly stronger foes as they climb and endless tower. As with the mainline game, levels can reach 9999, with attacks dealing over 100 million damage. The game also supports cross-platform play.
You can find the English Announcement trailer and abridged rundown (via Boltrend) below.
It’s a place deep than the ocean and darker than any place. It’s a dark world inhabited by ominous creatures captivated by the darkness. Where is the place? No one knows.
But people all believe in it’s existence and respect it from the bottom of their heart.
