• Discotek responds to Lovely Complex localization: ‘will not be working with him in the future’

    Discotek has provided a prompt response to the recent drama regarding the English dub for Lovely Complex.

    As previously reported, YouTuber JelloApocalypse (Brendan Blaber) wrote a long post explaining his decision making in the dub for the series, but more than that he went on to express hatred for the source material and contempt for fans who want accurate translations.

    In their response, Discotek offered some transparency into their own philosophy when it comes to making dubs.

    Discotek admits that English dubs will generally not adhere to the source material and will “smooth over rough patches”. However they go on to affirm that subtitles will be made with “as little alteration as possible”.
