David Grivel, the director for the upcoming remake of Splinter Cell, announced he is leaving Ubisoft.
“After more than 11 years at Ubisoft, it is now time for me to go on a new adventure,” Grivel announced in the update over on LinkedIn.
He continued by talking about his future: “And so, I want to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone I worked with at Ubisoft and say ‘au revoir.’ This is not ‘adieu’ for ours is a small industry so I’m looking forward to our paths crossing again in the future.”
His post naturally confirmed he’ll continue working in the video game industry. Though no details or hints were given as to what Grivel plans on doing now, previously he had worked for Crytek on Crysis 2.
As stated above, Grivel was the director for the upcoming Splinter Cell remake. This game was officially announced to be in development by Ubisoft at the end of 2021. Few details have been given about this upcoming remake other than the story getting updated for a “modern day audience”.
David Grivel had been with Ubisoft for the past 11 years. During this time, he was the game designer for big IPs of Ubisoft such as Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Assassin’s Creed Unity, Far Cry Primal, 5, and most recently, 6.
Ubisoft has not made any statements on the matter nor have they announced a replacement for Grivel.
