Digimon Survive devs ask players to avoid posting content post chapter 5

Spoilers in recently released video games is a contentious topic. When a game centers more around its story, the developers may prefer people not post all their content right when the game comes out.

One famous example was the rules made by Rockstar Games when Grand Theft Auto V first launched back in 2013. They had stated that Let’s Plays were fine, but not to upload only the ending or a compilation of the game’s cutscenes.

It seems that Digimon Survive developer Hyde and publisher Bandai Namco feel the same way. The game’s official Twitter posted a request that players refrain from posting about the story after chapter 5 for 2 months after the game’s release, which is today.

“We ask players to avoid posting anything on social media that may spoil the story from Chapter 5 onward for the first two months after Digimon Survive’s release. Let’s keep Digimon Survive a one-of-a-kind experience!,” the post reads.

Of course there doesn’t seem to be any binding contract for them to enforce such rules. Though it could possibly mean they may consider hitting those who don’t follow their request with copyright strikes. This, however, cannot be known until after more content is posted. So those who are planning on creating videos of the game should be aware of this.

Here’s a rundown on the game:

Digimon Survive

This is a story of survival in a strange new world.

Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Digimon Anime, Digimon Survive presents a brand-new adventure set in a mysterious world with characters designed by Uichi Ukumo, and music by the much-acclaimed Tomoki Miyoshi.

Digimon Survive sees a brand-new group of teenagers, led by Takuma Momozuka, get lost on a school camping trip, finding them transported to a strange new world of monsters and danger.

As they fight their way back home through an animated world of difficult decisions and deadly battles, players’ choices throughout the game will impact the evolution of their monster allies, and the final ending. Battles in the game are fought in 2D, in a more classic SRPG style.
