The latest Weekly Jump (via ryokutya2089) has revealed Digimon Survive.

The new survival-focused simulation RPG is in development for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, with a 2019 launch planned for Japan. The magazine notes the game’s core focus is on the player choices and story progression.

The protagonist, Takuya Momotsuka, is a second-year student enrolled at middle school who suddenly gets whisked away to a dangerous world inhabited by threatening monsters. He quickly partners with the iconic Digimon Agumon, and begins his quest to survive and hopefully find his way home.

Battling is described as taking place on square grids where you’ll have to use energy to fight your enemies. Balancing energy use and moving around the battle field will be critical to winning your fights, as well as digivolving your digimon (which also requires energy). Dialogue makes use of 2D art but with a 3D-oriented environment, sort of like a visual novel.
