Us westerners are getting the Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition as a digital-only release, sadly, but our Japanese friends are getting both a retail release, as well as a limited edition with some extra goodies.
On both Playstation 4 and Xbox One, the game will be available on June 18th, and it will cost 4,490 yen via retail and 4,157 yen via download. For PC users, the game is only getting a digital release on June 24 for 4,157 yen.
The above and below images are of the goodies coming with the e-Capcom Store limited edition (which you can find on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) . Setting you back 7,398 yen, it comes with:
- A retail copy of the game
- A “Production Note” book
- A “Premium Music Selection” soundtrack CD
- An original box
If you’re considering picking up either release, e-Capcom orders for both standard or limited editions will come with three exclusive replacement box sleeves, as well as bonus costumes for Lady and Trish, and finally a bonus 300,000 Red Orbs. In case you missed it, we have the debut 1080p screenshots and trailer for the special edition, which can be viewed here.
Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition is coming to both North America and Europe some time this summer.

March 24, 2015 at 1:14 pmIt seems odd they’re not releasing a similar edition in the USA, at least. I know the series is very popular here. I’d be getting the PC version either way so it doesn’t particularly affect me, but I know quite a few people who would have forked over the extra cash to get those goodies.

March 24, 2015 at 1:39 pmThey are testing the waters like with Ace Attorney 5. Capcom is also in hot water here constantly, not sure how the company is seen over there in Japan.

March 24, 2015 at 6:33 pmI heard DmC(the one no one liked) special edition bombed that could be why this game is digital only.

March 24, 2015 at 7:21 pmThis seems to be growing trend with Japanese developers.
Release a digital version of some game, but in Japan, release said game as some limited edition with hard copies.

March 25, 2015 at 2:27 amnot a fan of how Capcom is doing everything they can to gimp this game. its soobvious they’re in denial about no one liking DmC and are trying to push DmC way too much. Oh well, that’ll just make it all the more delcious when despite all this, DMC4 still sells better

100% noob
March 25, 2015 at 3:50 pmEven if it is digital only more than likely it’ll still outsell DmC. However the one thing that probably will still be in the game is a massive amount of backtracking that was in the original game. But considering they are adding in 3 more playable characters I’m twisted onto what to do, I guess I’ll just wait for a sale or just buy on launch like any other sucker out there will do.

March 25, 2015 at 4:36 pmDigital only? Fuck that, are they trying to bury it intentionally so their shitty reboot looks better by comparison?
