Development on Soul Saga is Still Progressing, Despite Creator’s Health Problems

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard about Kickstarter funded throwback JRPG, Soul Saga. We’ve learned via an update on their official Kickstarter that despite creator Mike Gale’s health issues, the development is still “moving along great.”

The game is somewhat of a parody of JRPG’s of yesteryear, borrowing lots of elements from iconic series like Breath of Fire, Final Fantasy, and my favorite – Suikoden. While the release across PC, Playstation 4, Playstation Vita, and Wii U is still on track for later this year, Gale has been fighting to keep up development on his end:

“My personal health took a dip a few months ago when I became bed ridden from a ruptured disc in my spine. I have barely been able to walk, and unable to sit for about three months now. The doctor says I will probably need surgery.”

He elaborated on why the fans and backers of the game should rest at ease, because despite his debilitating condition, he is pressing on:

“But don’t worry, I won’t do something like that until Soul Saga is done. I want to make sure I get a good game to you as soon as possible. I’ve acquired a laptop so I can work from bed since I can’t sit at my normal workstation. I’m still personally clocking in ~100 hours a week on Soul Saga, so there shouldn’t be any delays from my end of the project.”

Soul Saga was successfully funded on Kickstarter last year with more than triple its asking goal of $60,000 dollars. It’s still on track for a release this year, and was also Greenlit on Steam.
