Development for New Titanfall Game Delayed as Team Focuses on Apex Legends

Despite pledging support towards something new for the Titanfall franchise sometime this year, we’ve learned Electronic Arts and developer Respawn Entertainment are putting development on a proper new game in the series on hold.

Both EA and Respawn have announced they are putting development on a new Titanfall game on hold, so they can instead focus on post-launch development for Apex Legends – the free-to-play battle royale spinoff set within the Titanfall universe.

“Regarding other games in development at Respawn, it is important to understand that there are entirely separate development teams working on Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” Respawn producer Drew McCoy said.

He added, “Additionally, in order to fully support Apex Legends, we are pushing out plans for future Titanfall games. No resources from the Apex Legends team are being shifted to other titles in development here at the studio, nor are we pulling resources from the team working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.”

Apex Legends launched in February for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
