Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween Hits Japanese Theaters in April

Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween

The latest Detective Conan film, Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween, will premiere next April in Japanese theaters.

Detective Conan follows the adventures of the genius high school detective Shinichi Kudo. However after running afoul of the “Black Organization,” he’s knocked out and forcefed an allegedly traceless poison.

The poison is ineffective, and rather than kill him it regresses his body to that of a child. Since the news didn’t report his death, the Black Organization fears he’s still alive.

With no other option, Shinichi disguises himself with the fake identity Conan Edogawa and is able to stay with his girlfriend and father, Ran and Mouri Kogorou (the latter of which is an alcoholic and unsuccessful detective). Neither of them know the truth about his identity.

The Bride of Halloween sees detective Miwako Sato’s wedding being interrupted by an assailant, while and detective Wataru Takagi is hurt trying to protect her. While all is resolved, Sato still draws comparisons to when Jinpei Matsuda, someone she deeply loved, was killed in a series of bombings three years ago.

In addition to all this happening to Conan’s friends, that very bomber has escaped from prison. As Rei Furuya is hunting down the man who killed his police academy classmate, a bomb collar is put around his neck. Can Conan and his friends solve the mystery, and exorcise the terrible memories that haunt Sato and Furuya?

Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween will hit theaters on April 15th. An English release has not been announced at the time of publishing.

In earlier news, a spinoff series called Wild Police Story, starring Furuya, was announced earlier this year.
