Bandai Namco has given us a brief look at The Irregular at Magic High School: Out of Order‘s multiplayer. The game allows up to four players to drop in on ad-hoc sessions across three different modes, featured in the videos below.
Normal Match AKA Interference Intensity Measurement
This mode sets a requisite number of knock-outs for declaring a winner, based on how many players are in the game, and the first player responsible for that requisite number is declared the winner. Two players require three eliminations, three players require four, and four people require five eliminations.
Territory Collapse AKA Operation Structure Measurement
In Territory Collapse, players destroy cores that appear on the field in order to gain points. Once all of the cores are destroyed, the player with the highest score wins. Players don’t take damage during this mode, so there’s no risk of a KO here.
Psyon Flag AKA Operation Velocity Measurement
Psyon Flag is basically a traditional capture-the-flag mode with a twist. Players are tasked with acquiring flags at designated points on the field, except they don’t do it for a team but for themselves. The player who has the most flags once all of the flags are acquired is declared the winner. Players are immune to damage in this mode, too.
As a little extra, we also get a look at Miyuki’s Ice and Fire Hell spell, in the above video.
Thanks to Dengeki for the update.
The Irregular at Magic High School: Out of Order is set for a December 25 release in Japan for the PS Vita. There’s no news of a Western localization yet.
