Bungie has announced Destiny 2 has several openly gay characters to celebrate “National Coming Out Day.”
While the aforementioned day actually went down on October 11th, Bungie offered a free Destiny 2 rainbow transmat to players in the community – alongside a lengthy blog post that confirms 5 characters are gay.
“The act of coming out is not limited to a single day, a single month, or even a single year. It is a journey whose only destination is to be your truest self, and no matter where you are on your path, you deserve to shine,” Bungie said in the blog post.
They added, “We’re proud today to release the End of the Rainbow transmat effect permanently for all players to give a venue for that shine, and we’re further pleased to also share a special wallpaper set spotlighting several of Destiny 2’s queer characters.”
Players, whether they’re gay or not, can get the rainbow transmat for free by visiting this site and redeeming the code R9J-79M-J6C.
The transmat is officially called “End of the Rainbow,” it hsa the player appear from the end of a rainbow and spinning once they land.
There’s also five wallpapers featuring the five now-confirmed gay characters, with the numerous variations of “pride” flags emblazoned over them, because there are several.
Destiny 2 has been available across Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Stadia.
