Are you a fan of deceiving people – especially in video games? If so, you’re in luck, Tecmo Koei has confirmed that they’re bringing the latest in their Deception series, Deception IV: Blood Ties, to the West on Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita. The game is coming to both platforms on March 25th in North America and March 28th in Europe.
The game is a direct sequel to the original on Playstation One, putting you in control of the scantily clad daughter of the Devil, Laegrinna. Laegrinna is assisted by three Daemons who help her defeat her enemies, each of which is assigned to one of three face buttons on the Vita or the Dualshock 3. The range of traps are definitely varied, you’ll be getting your foes to slip on banana peels or … get crushed within an Iron Maiden.
The entire key to clearing levels is timing the traps right and laying them out properly – forgetting the placement of your traps or setting them off at the wrong times could let your enemies get to you, or let your own traps backfire upon you. Naturally, you’ll be rewarded differently depending on how you kill or capture an enemy through the Devil’s three servants: Caelea (Elaborate Death), Lilia (Humiliating Demise), Veruza (Sadistic Torment). The points you earn after clearing levels will let you upgrade your traps.
Deception IV will come with online support in the form of sharing your trap combinations online with other players, and uploading videos and even challenges for other players to beat, such as your high scores. Online leaderboards will naturally make an appearance, as well as having access to user created missions called “cross quests.”
The Playstation Vita version of Deception IV will feature touch screen controls to allow you to select and activate traps.
