Debut Trailer for the New Ghost in the Shell Animated Movie is Revealed

Following the recap trailer that we saw come out back in March of this year – Production I.G. has finally given us a real look at the new 25th anniversary Ghost in the Shell animated movie.

Featured above, the new trailer clocks in at just over a minute in length – however, it’s filled with action and beautiful visuals. The production studio, Production I.G., is known for their work on the Ghost in the Shell: Arise series.

The plot centers around the murder of the prime minister, which sees the collaboration between Public Security Section 9 (of which protagonist Motoko Kusanagi works for) and the prime minister’s son. The script was penned by Tow Ubukata, who also worked on Arise.

Fans can expect the new movie to air in Japanese theaters on June 20th. A Hollywood-produced live action Ghost in the Shell movie (starring Scarlett Johansson) is set to film next year.
