Debut Gameplay for Survival City-Builder Frostpunk

Polish developer 11 Bit Studios (This War of Mine) has revealed the first gameplay for their upcoming survival-city builder, Frostpunk.

Featured above, the debut gameplay for the PC title shows off the game’s post-apocalyptic, artic wasteland – as well as the moral decisions you’ll have to make to ensure the survival of the human race.

Players will have to contend with decisions like allowing or outlawing child labor – or bulking their meals up with sawdust so they don’t get malnourished and weak. You’ll also get a look at how your steampunk-like city can expand and evolve over time.

Here’s a brief synopsis on what to expect, via 11 Bit Studios:

In a completely frozen world, people develop steam-powered technology to oppose the overwhelming cold. Society in its current form becomes ineffective and it has to change in order to survive.

What does this change mean? What is culture when morality stands in the way of existence? Think about how survival may, in the end, leave us different beings. Whether worse, better, stronger, weaker or, last but not least, more or less humane – that is debatable.

A release date for Frostpunk is still not confirmed. We’ll keep you guys posted.
