Idea Factory International have announced (in a press release via Games Press), the release date of Death end re;Quest 2 in the west, along with confirming the Glitch costumes will be uncensored on PC.
In earlier news, Idea Factory International announced they would take a survey, as to whether players want censored or uncensored costumes in Death end re;Quest 2 on Steam. The press release now confirms “the Steam version includes the original Death end re;Quest™ Glitch costumes, which appear during battle.”
As stated in the previous report, the PlayStation 4 version (already out in Japan) had censored costumes. Many suspect this is due to Sony’s ongoing policy to censor sexual content from anime-styled games on the console.
In 2019, Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia President Atsushi Morita stated the then recent spate of censorship of anime-styled sexual content on PlayStation 4 games had been “to meet global standards.”
The official Idea Factory International blog post also notes “The first game’s characters only appear in their Glitch Costumes during battle and not in event scenes or CGs.”
The blog post also notes that fans can apply for a closed beta on Steam until June 15th. Those who are 18 or older can apply here. The beta runs from June 15th to 18th.
The press release also notes the game will get a physical and digital release. In addition, the official website has been updating with information about the game’s world and characters. You can find it here.
