It’s been a couple years since I first bookmarked Double Bear’s turn-based Zombie-fighting CRPG Dead State, and while their Kickstarter was quickly funded, it seemed like the game was in its beta phase for eons. Not one to tempt the early access waters, I never tried the game in its unfinished form and elected to wait until its official release to bask in all the brain-splattering goodness that was awaiting me.
That wait’s over though, since Dead State’s Kickstarter page has just revealed that the game has now been made available and is ready to be downloaded as of today.
Dead State isn’t just another zombie game, either. Aiming to authentically recreate the business of dealing with clashing personalities and building safehouses during the confusion and panic of a zombie apocalypse, Double Bear’s RPG is probably more of a simulator than a lot of newcomers to the game may realize. In Dead State, you have to not only concern yourself with boarding up your hideout and maintaining its upkeep, but also preventing those you save from killing each other or sabotaging your plans.
If micro-management is your thing, Dead State is available on Steam and GOG.com for $29.99USD.
