A rumor has been circling that a Dead Space remake is in development at EA Motive. Now, another outlet is claiming the reboot is indeed a remake.
The rumor has been further corroborated by VentureBeat, suggesting that the game is a full blown remake of Dead Space, which uses the original game as a “strong foundation.” The rumor says EA is taking notes from Capcom’s highly successful Resident Evil remakes, which invigorated the franchise overall and led to success with new entries.
While the previous rumor suggested a reveal confirming a Dead Space remake is in development at EA Motive would happen during this year’s EA Play Live – the event came and went with no such reveal.
The latest rumor says the Dead Space remake would have modern visuals, and while it will use the original as a base, it will bring in new gameplay mechanics inspired by the later games. While EA abandoned single player games for awhile, the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has reportedly warmed them up to single player games again.
The original Dead Space was released back in 2008, followed by Dead Space 2 in 2011 and finally the final main game, Dead Space 3 in 2013. All three main games have been available for Windows PC. Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
We’ll keep you guys posted.
