Koei Tecmo has announced the release window for Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 during a stage event at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune for PlayStation 4 and Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Venus for PS Vita will both launch in Japan sometime next spring.

The final character results were also confirmed from the game’s hotly contested polls, with the following nine characters making up the game’s debut roster:

  1. Marie Rose (17.6 percent) – (This slot gets a PS4 first-print costume)
  2. Honoka (14.9 percent) – (This slot gets a PS Vita first-print costume)
  3. Kasumi (12 percent)
  4. Ayane (8.4 percent)
  5. Kokoro (8 percent)
  6. Nyotengu (7.6 percent)
  7. Hitomi (5.9 percent)
  8. Momiji (5.1 percent)
  9. Elena (4.9 percent)

Finally, a slide was shown during their event in which the publisher said they were considering PlayStation VR support, however producer Yosuke Hayashi flatly said they will support the peripheral. An official announcement for this will come at a later date.

    Good for Marie though.

Koei Tecmo has some awful business practices these days. Conceived from the beginning to only have nine characters available at start and the rest being DLC, with the nine being decided on a poll where you had to buy a theme for the character you wanted to have as an initial character. Nickel-and-diming your customers like that before the game is even out is pretty impressive.

And it won’t stop there if DOA5’s bajillion pieces of DLC is anything to go by. I don’t even want to imagine how much it would cost to buy all of them. But no worries, just wait for a re-release that has all of it included like DOA5: Ultimate! Oh wait, that didn’t have everything. Well like DOA5: Last Round then! Nope, you still won’t get everything. Of course if you play the PC version you could naughtily download them from the internet. Oh wait, the PC version is a port of the last gen version of the game, not of the improved PS4/Xbone version, so again you get shafted. And I don’t even remember is the online play available on PC yet?

Not to mention their other PC ports tend to be near unplayable messes.

TL;DR I’m keeping my money, Koei Tecmo.

I wonder how good this would actually look on Vita….and if they’ll release the Asia version with eng subs like they’re doing with Gundam VS and Moe Crystal….

The poll kinda makes sense though.
At least if we believe their claims that the new game will have a much bigger focus on every character, and thus they couldn’t just toss in every character due to resources and time.
So I guess once the game comes out we can see if they really payed that much attention to the characters or not.
And making the poll based on sales is the most logical way of actually measuring who is committed to getting the game and buying content for their favorite characters, a free online poll wouldn’t tell them that.

And their PC ports have always run well for me but I’ve heard some people have issues with them, they do have to step up their game there. But I still really really want to see DOAX3 on PC.
Dead or Alive Extreme 3 on PC + VR would be a dream come true.

I for one am happy with the final cast, all my favorite girls are in.
But in the case they make a western port they should run another poll to see which girls they can add for the west.

Uh, Mila seems more here popular than in Japan.

    And DOAX3 + VR = yeeeeaaaah

Considering all the bullshits that Team Ninja has been spouting for the past few years, I doubt that “resources” is their main issue. They just have shit coders and a lazy development team that recycles the same thing over and over.

Their PC ports are gimped to hell. And don’t eve get me started on the number of bugs they have on almost all their games. DOA5LR was a disaster at launch and so was Bladestorm with all their game breaking bugs.

And this poll along with no US release is the final nail in the coffin for me.

Hey all, a petition has been started to gather support for a western release. Something needs to be done to show we need this game.
