Tecmo Koei and Team Ninja are planning on releasing even more playable fighters in Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, their free to play version of the popular fighter that is currently available on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. These new fighters will go the route of their previous additions – first they hit the arcades and later they’re ported to the consoles.
Team Ninja confirmed their plans in a tweet:
“We announce officially that we will have more fighters to #DOA5UA first, then #DOA5U, after Marie Rose & Phase 4, coming next week.”
They also confirmed that they plan to release a “New Characters” downloadable content set that has a more reasonable price tag on the consoles, once all of the new fighters have been revealed and released, of course. Unfortunately, in case you were hoping this deal will be available soon, don’t hold your breath. Team Ninja said it will be at least six months until this kind of deal would be available.
Team Ninja’s original plan was to release all of the fighters at once, only to later realize that fans were clamoring to get their hands on new fighters sooner. Releasing each fighter individually expedites the process, whereas releasing them in a bundle would take a lot longer.
