Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is Getting Senran Kagura Costume DLC

senran kagura estival versus 02-19-15-5

We’ve learned of a pretty spectacular collaboration of sorts (via Inside Games) between the Senran Kagura series and Koei Tecmo’s Dead or Alive 5: Last Round.

The Team Ninja-developed fighting game is getting a season pass, which season pass will contain some DLC with outfits based on the ladies from Senran Kagura. So far we have but one image depicting the sort-of-crossover, featured below.

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is getting the “New Costume Pass,” a pretty sizable bundle with lots of character costumes that will kick off this month, leading into June.

Here are the contents of the New Costume Pass:

  • Ninja Costumes Vol. 1 (February download, set of 10)
  • Ninja Costumes Vol. 2 (March download, set of 10)
  • Senran Kagura Collaboration Costumes (March download, set of 16)
  • Unannounced (May download, set of 16)
  • Unannounced (June download, set of 16)
  • Costume Pass exclusive “Marie Snow White Maid Costume” (shown on the above image).

In order to get all of the costumes, you’ll have to pony up for the aforementioned New Costume Pass, which costs 10,044 yen, or roughly US$85.

While Westerners can buy the Dead or Alive 5: Last Round Season Pass, there is no word yet on whether we’ll be getting the glorious Senran Kagura collaboration costumes.

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is now available in both Japan and North America, while our European fans have to wait until tomorrow, with the international PC version coming last on March 30th.

Why does the GOTY version have season passes? Well, it’s cosmetic but come on.

I’ve never been one for DOA but man I swear there’s new costumes every single week. It’s kinda disgusting just how much DLC this game has and how much it’d probably cost to buy it all but I guess it’s good that it’s mostly just costumes and not anything serious at least.

This is the first Senran Kagura material on PC (and Xbox 360/One)

I guess Marie has to be Mirai be default, but other than that I’m stumped.

I looked up how many costume packs DoA 5 has. It led me to believe that DoA 5 is the Train Simulator of fighting games.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Cosmetic DLC is just fine, and I like seeing T&A as much as the next guy. I’m just not sure I’m willing to spend $85 to do it.

I want it but I paid $50 for the game buying a $85 season pass seems… extreme.

    I agree.

Small point: Last Round is actually only 40 USD.

I’d rather have an actual Senran Kagura game instead, but besides that what used to be unlocks in a video games are now DLC? While unnecessary it still comes down to the fact of locking away stuff just for the sake to attempt to get more money off of a single product that was released. What’s next? In order to have cheats in games you’ll have to pay for DLC, DLC this, DLC that, when is it going to stop and devs just release a solid product without having to either cut content out for DLC?

While I think the amount of DLC in this game is absurd, DoA5LR is a solid product and these costumes were not cut just to make them DLC. There are over 500 costumes for this game. That is decidedly additional, not cut, content.

They are really milking the DLC in this game for all it’s worth.

Yep. It annoys the shit out of me Soul Calibur IV was presented as getting continual support this way, but got squat. The pricing structure is ass, but I’m sure price will go down or eventually be a one-buy bulk bundle.
At least you can tell the devs are having a good time with their milking. It’s not just frickin’ capcom recolours. This is a strange sort of “DLC by fans for fans” ala Koei’s DW8 packs.

Shame as Senran Kagura lets any character (minus Murasame) when any clothes options and even adjust their breast size…

I’m not asking for DoA to do the latter (though they do have their jiggle settings), but you would think that when partnering with a company with pretty decent practices/ideas that they would step up their game.
