Koei Tecmo has announced that Dead or Alive 5: Last Round‘s free downloadable version, Core Fighters, has been downloaded over four million times worldwide.
The publisher is celebrating the new milestone with a new campaign running from August 25th through September 14th, where Leifang will be playable entirely for free. A bunch of add-ons for the game are also going to be lowered in price.
Core Fighters has been available across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox One. While the PlayStation version of Core Fighters is free, the Xbox One version has a demo and a paid version.
For now, these promotions are currently only available for Japan.

August 26, 2015 at 2:00 pmGlad to hear about their success. Been a fan since before some of you were born, lol. Unfortunately, I am coming to my end of supporting them following the latest news about regarding their decisions.
Turning your back on fans is good way for them to do the same. I have Senran Kagura, so I will be fine.

August 26, 2015 at 5:03 pmUgh… DOA5 is great, but I have Ultimate on PS3, along with most of the new fighters DLC (Marie Rose, the female Tengu). I really don’t wanna get another one… even though I guess there’s no harm in checking out the free-to-play version. And maybe buying some of my favorite characters for it and that’s it.
It’s a shame that the series still gets more attention for attraction creepers than it does for being a brilliant fighting game with an amazing, fast-paced fighting engine. I’m glad they’re keeping DOAX3 in Asia; creepos/voyeurs/perverts can use their JP Region Playstation accounts to download that garbage on their own. No need to embarass the company and devalue the brand by officially wasting time & effort localizing that kind of ****. Those pervs probably already know how to open a JP region account just to play garbage like Gal Gun…

August 26, 2015 at 5:52 pmYou do realize that GalGun is in the works for being localized…right? Besides they’ve already stated that if enough demand is there (which there will), then they are willing to consider localizing DOAX3.

August 26, 2015 at 6:54 pmNo one should ever be glad for games not being localized. They’re not for me either, but that’s still a terrible attitude to have.
Plus, the series likely only still even exists because of this stuff, dude.

August 26, 2015 at 6:56 pmThey didn’t say they were ceasing development for other consoles, just that they’re shifting from PS4/3/V development to making games that fully take advantage of next gen consoles. It may just mean we see an increase of original Vita/3DS titles as they leave the PS3 behind.
Previous KT games had Microsoft versions made when they came overseas, if that’s your concern. Likewise, the no Western version thing applies only to DOAX3 as far as I know – KT has been one of the best companies for localization I can think of.
